Practitioner/Faculty Candidates Frequently Asked Questions

Q:    I'm not quite ready to apply for a position but would like to explore available options. Should I still submit a candidate profile?

A:    It’s up to you! Submitting your candidate profile gives hiring representatives an idea about who you are and where you are in your career. This may allow them to identify you in advance of the meeting and contact you to request a meeting. Candidate profiles are only accessible to hiring representatives that are registered for the PPF.

Q:    Is this event for current residents/fellows?

A:    Yes. Current residents and fellows seeking entry level positions are invited to participate!

Q:    Can I sign up to meet with recruiters?

A:    Yes. Review the event position listings. For any position of interest, you can choose to sign up for a 30 minute meeting with representatives from that institution during their selected PPF timeslot on Sunday or Monday. Slots are limited, so review positions and sign up early!

Q:    How do I prepare for an interview? What should I bring?

A:    Arrive to the PPF room 5 minutes early to ensure that you are able to locate the room and the recruiter table. You may wish to bring a printed copy of your CV. If you have completed a candidate profile, you may instead direct recruiters there. Meeting times are limited. It is highly recommended that you thoroughly research the position prior to meeting so that you can ask specific, educated questions. Be prepared to answer questions about your goals, qualifications/experience, and timeline.

Q:    I was contacted by a recruiter and asked to schedule an interview. Unfortunately, I have a conflict with the available appointment times. What should I do?

A:    Reach out to the hiring representatives, explain the situation, and request an alternate meeting time during (or after) the meeting.

Q:    Is there a list of positions that I can access before the meeting?

A:    A detailed list of positions is available at the Professional Placement Forum webpage. You must be registered for the PPF (free) to access the list.

Q:    Will I have the opportunity for an interview with hiring representatives?

A:    You might! It is highly recommended that you evaluate the position listings and sign up for appointments early. Each position has a limited number of appointments available to interested candidates.
