Hematology/Oncology PRN and Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics/Pharmacogenomics PRN Focus Session — Pharmacogenomics in Oncology Practice: Unraveling the Science of Pharmacogenomics for Implementation in Cancer Treatment and Supportive Care
Monday, November 13, 2023 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM CST at Lone Star Ballroom C3
Available for 1.50 hours of CPE credit
Activity Number: 0217-0000-23-139-L01-P
Activity Type: A Knowledge-Based Activity
This session will focus on the clinical application and implementation of germline pharmacogenomics in cancer treatment and supportive care. Given the growth in pharmacogenomic testing, pharmacists as medication experts are prime resources for identifying relevant drug-gene pairs in oncology practice for implementation and interpreting pharmacogenomic test results to guide treatment and toxicity management. With advances in pharmacogenomics research as well as rapid growth in FDA approvals of anticancer therapies with potential pharmacogenomic implications, pharmacists will be faced with the conundrum of navigating discordant recommendations from different governing bodies and the ethical and legal implications of testing.
