An estimated 90 million individuals across the globe this year have been forcibly displaced by colliding geo-political, socioeconomic, and environmental pressures. The numbers triple when including all migrants globally. Across the globe, including in the United States, refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants have unique health needs that pharmacists are positioned to support. Pharmacists are in a unique position to contribute to the development of improved health systems and ensure equitable and just access to health care for all people. This special session will focus on understanding the structural factors underlying health inequities for refugees and migrants globally and will provide examples of effective pharmacist involvement in improving access and quality of care for refugees and migrants in the US and abroad.
