Available for 1.50 hours of CPE credit
Activity Number: 0217-0000-23-132-L99-P
Activity Type: A Knowledge-Based Activity
The Education and Training PRN Education Programming Committee has developed an informative, evidence-based session focused on increasing learner engagement and motivation in the classroom, experiential, and professional settings. During the pandemic, there have been many changes in teaching, learning, and leadership experiences, resulting in decreased learner engagement and new challenges in promoting learner motivation. Both the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Accreditation Standards and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Residency Accreditation Standards emphasize the importance of modeling engagement within diverse settings to prepare pharmacists to be committed to continuous professional development (CPD). Research and literature outside of and within pharmacy education highlight opportunities to enhance learner motivation, resulting in lifelong learning and engagement within the profession. Attendees will be presented with evidence-based strategies to promote motivation and engagement for pharmacy learners in the classroom, experiential, and co-curricular settings. Following the session, attendees will be able to implement strategies to enhance learner motivation at an individual and group level.
Please note: This session is open to all Annual Meeting registrants and is an elective for the Teaching and Learning Academy. In order to receive Teaching and Learning Academy credit, Academy enrollees must sign in during the session.
