Pharmacy technicians are critical, yet often overlooked, members of the pharmacy team.  They not only support drug distribution, but their scope of practice has steadily expanded, and they have become critical to the delivery of clinical services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  This session will address contemporary roles and responsibilities of pharmacy technicians, particularly around the delivery of clinical services, as well as challenges specific to the pharmacy technician workforce.  The session will be divided into three sections.  The first two sections will be focused on the individual pharmacy technician by addressing strategies for recruitment and retention.  The third section will broaden the conversation to discuss the use of the pharmacy technicians to advance the clinical enterprise of an organization.
