Health Equity PRN and Health Outcomes PRN Focus Session — Tying the Knot: Marrying Practice With Research Across the Health Equity Continuum

Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 1:15 PM to 2:45 PM CST at Lone Star Ballroom B

Available for 1.50 hours of CPE credit
Activity Number: 0217-0000-23-138-L99-P
Activity Type: A Knowledge-Based Activity

Pharmacists are uniquely positioned on interdisciplinary healthcare teams, using their medication expertise for patient care services, research, and scholarship. Practice-based research is a key component of pharmacy practice, and there has been a paradigm shift to focus on enhancing health equity through equity-oriented dissemination and implementation (D&I) research. By grounding research and health equity into everyday practices, clinicians can systematically identify gaps in care, improve practice, and explore the applicability of clinical trial results to their particular patient population. Despite the potential benefits and importance of health-equity driven practice-based research, many clinicians face barriers to integration. In this session, speakers will describe health-equity driven practice-based research across a variety of settings, including strategic planning and implementation strategies for practice, advocacy, and research.

Please note: This session is open to all Annual Meeting registrants and is an elective for the Research and Scholarship Academy. In order to receive Research and Scholarship Academy credit, Academy enrollees must sign in during the session.
