Available for 1.50 hours of CPE credit
Activity Number: 0217-0000-24-109-L04-P
Activity Type: A Knowledge-Based Activity
Community Pharmacy continues to serve an important role as the largest and most accessible group of healthcare providers in the U.S., but the advent of new technologies, changing roles as providers versus dispensers, and historical lack of recognition as healthcare providers has posed a number of challenges to practice and professional satisfaction. Newer challenges include the integration of pharmacy disruptors (Amazon, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, etc.) as well as adoption of robotics and artificial intelligence will require community pharmacists to expand their skillsets and entrepreneurial acumen to grow and thrive in the future. This activity will describe these challenges and spotlight case examples of pharmacists who have expanded their roles as healthcare providers and developed models that both capture reimbursement and serve the communities in which they are located.
