Practitioner/Faculty Candidates Frequently Asked Questions

Q:    I'm not quite ready to apply for a position but would like to explore available options. Should I still submit a candidate profile?

A:    It’s up to you! Submitting your candidate profile gives hiring representatives an idea about who you are and where you are in your career. This may allow them to identify you in advance of the meeting and contact you to request an appointment. Candidate profiles are only accessible to hiring representatives that are registered for the PPF.

Q:    Is this event for current residents/fellows?

A:    Yes. Current residents and fellows seeking entry level positions are invited to participate!

Q:    How do I prepare for an interview? What should I bring?

A:    Once you have a confirmed appointment you will receive details about the location of your meeting with hiring representatives. You may wish to bring a printed copy of your CV. If you have completed a candidate profile, you may instead direct recruiters there. Meeting times are limited. It is highly recommended that you thoroughly research the position prior to meeting so that you can ask specific, educated questions. Be prepared to answer questions about your goals, qualifications/experience, and timeline.

Q:    I was invited to an interview but have a conflict with the available appointment times. What should I do?

A:    Reach out to the hiring representatives, explain the situation, and request an alternate meeting time during (or after) the global conference.

Q:    Is there a list of positions that I can review?

A:    A detailed list of positions is available at the Professional Placement Forum webpage. You must be registered for the PPF (free) to access the list.

Q:    Will I have the opportunity for an interview with hiring representatives?

A:    You might! It is highly recommended that you evaluate the position listings and contact hiring representatives after October 4 to request an appointment. Each position has a limited number of appointments available to interested candidates. Recruiters will have to make tough decisions about which candidates to invite to those meetings. If you are invited – that’s great- sign up for a slot right away and show up on time with educated questions. If you are not invited – don’t worry – the meeting spots are limited, and recruiters may choose to prioritize their meetings in any number of ways. In either case, follow-up with the recruiters after the meeting to indicate your ongoing interest.

Q:    What do I do if a recruiter contacts me to request a meeting?

A:    Recruiters have limited meeting slots. If you are invited, they will provide you with a custom link or QR code to schedule an appointment. First, review the position listing and the institution’s website to make certain you are interested in the position. If you are, make every effort to select an appointment slot right away! This should be easily accomplished from your mobile phone, tablet, or computer. Once your appointment is confirmed you will receive specific instructions on the location. Arrive on time and come prepared with informed questions. If you are not interested in the position or know you will be unable to seriously consider it, respond to the recruiter’s request as soon as possible to thank them and decline the invitation.

Q:    When and where do I meet with hiring representatives?

A:    Once invited, you’ll be provided with a custom link or QR code to schedule an appointment at the times available for that position. Once your appointment is confirmed you will receive specific instructions on the location. All meetings will take place at the Global Conference meeting venue.
