The purpose of this session is to provide an overview of the new and emerging trends in the use of mental health medications. Topics will include the treatment of mood disorders, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, and how these conditions as well as the medications used to manage them can impact the physical health of patients. Speakers will present evidence and clinical practice surrounding the use of mental health medications and apply patient care scenarios and intermittent questions for formative assessment during the session.

6. Construct drug therapy monitoring plans for the medications utilized in the treatment of schizophrenia.
7. Evaluate current recommendations and therapeutics for the treatment of each anxiety disorder.
8. Discuss the necessity for acute versus chronic treatment of various anxiety disorders.
