Fundamentals of Biostatistics and Clinical Trial Design Workshop
Friday, April 22, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM CDT at Academic and Research Building: First Floor, Room 111Available for 5.00 hours of CPE creditActivity Number: 0217-9999-22-033-L04-PThis interactive workshop is designed for those pharmacists wanting to obtain an in-depth refresher of core concepts related to biostatistics and clinical trial design. This workshop is approved for recertification credit in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, Critical Care Pharmacy, Pediatric Pharmacy, and Pharmacotherapy. Participants wishing to earn recertification credit must specify which type of recertification credit they wish to earn in advance of the session. In order to earn the associated recertification credit for this workshop participants must take and pass the workshop posttest no later than May 18, 2023.

- Delineate the key attributes of study variables (data) and the primary levels/categories of data measurement (give examples of each). Develop examples of converting data from one level/category to another.
- Define the two primary types of errors possible when statistically interpreting and making inferences on data being compared.
- Define and interpret a p value and confidence intervals, including the concept of statistical significance.
- Define the difference between independent and paired (repeated measures) data measurements and comparisons.
- Select the most appropriate statistical test given the type/level of data measurement assessed and given the research question being addressed in a study.

- Describe and calculate the most important epidemiological terms associated with healthcare and research.
