New Edition of How to Develop a Business Plan for Pharmacy Services

ACCP is pleased to announce the publication of a new edition of How to Develop a Business Plan for Pharmacy Services. Authors Glen T. Schumock and JoAnn Stubbings have updated and enhanced this popular book designed to provide a valuable tool for pharmacy clinicians, managers, and leaders in approaching the critical business planning process.

In the ever-changing health care industry, opportunities arise for expanding existing, or implementing new, pharmacy services. With the increased demand for pharmacist involvement in patient care comes the need for a systematic approach to creating a successful business plan to promote support for these enhanced pharmacy services.

This book offers individuals the methodology for engaging their critical thinking skills in preparing and evaluating pharmacy service proposals that will lead to a financial decision-maker’s favorable view of their proposals.

New to this expanded, revised, and improved edition are exercises designed to guide readers in writing their own unique business plan. Inserted between sets of chapters, the exercises provide instructions for converting the workbook questions from each chapter into paragraph format text suitable for a final business plan.

Also new to this edition are resources accessed online, including an electronic version of the workbook questions, a business plan template to use in writing a business plan, an Excel program to use in developing financial statements for the proposed business, and two business practice models. Additional resources will be added to the Web site periodically, including more sample business plans.
