Rodgers Chosen ACCP President-Elect


Rodgers

Jo E. Rodgers, Pharm.D., FCCP, FHFSA, FAHA, BCPS, BCCP, was chosen as ACCP president-elect in the annual elections held this past spring. Rodgers is a professor in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). She received a B.S. degree in pharmacy and a Pharm.D. degree at UNC; completed a pharmacy practice and critical care residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals; and completed a fellowship in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy at UNC. She currently serves as vice chair of professional education and practice in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics. Rodgers maintains a clinical practice with the UNC Heart and Vascular Center in the Cardio-oncology Clinic. She has served ACCP in many capacities, including as a Board of Regents member, Cardiology PRN secretary and chair, and chair of several ACCP committees. She is currently a mentor for the Cardiology PRN and the ACCP Foundation’s Mentored Research Investigator Training Program.


Stover

Garwood

Phan

In other election results, Kayla R. Stover, Pharm.D., FCCP, FIDSA, BCIDP, BCPS, was selected as ACCP secretary, and Candice L. Garwood, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCACP, and Hanna Phan, Pharm.D., FCCP, FPPA, were selected as regents. Stover is a professor of pharmacy practice at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, with joint appointments at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in medicine–infectious diseases and pharmacology. Garwood is a clinical professor at Wayne State University, Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a clinical pharmacy specialist at Harper University Hospital, part of the Detroit Medical Center. Phan is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Michigan and a clinical pharmacist specialist, Ambulatory Care – Pediatric Pulmonology at Michigan Medicine.


Caudle

Scheetz

Kelly E. Caudle, Pharm.D., Ph.D., FCCP, BCPS, and Marc H. Scheetz, Pharm.D., M.Sc., FCCP, FCP, were each elected to 3-year terms as ACCP Foundation trustees. Caudle is Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium director and senior program manager for pharmacogenomic resources and engagement at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Scheetz is a professor of pharmacy practice at Midwestern University, where he is also director of the Pharmacometrics Center of Excellence and the fellowship program in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy.

Rodgers will begin her term as president-elect after the 2023 ACCP Annual Meeting in November and will assume the presidency the following year. As president, she will serve as chair of the Board of Regents and guide College programs and activities. In an interview with the ACCP Report, she commented:

It is truly an honor to serve as a presidential officer for ACCP. I appreciate the aspirations and values of our members and the abundant opportunities before us. I continue to be in awe of the evolution and magnitude of our members’ passion and expertise. I am confident, now more than ever, that we will further evolve initiatives important to the patients we serve in abundant and profound ways. By valuing member engagement and representation in organizational strategic planning and execution, we can collaborate to address opportunities and challenges in clinical practice, research, and education to further advance ACCP’s mission “to improve human health by extending the frontiers of clinical pharmacy.” As President, I will make it my foremost priority to develop, advance, and position clinical pharmacists to best serve our patients and society. I will work to ensure each member’s voice and interests are represented and the opportunities for members to promote and advocate for pharmacists in diverse settings are limitless. I am exceedingly appreciative of the opportunity to represent ACCP in this role, and I remain dedicated to representing and serving ACCP and its members. I look forward to working alongside each of you!

Each incoming member of the Board of Regents and Board of Trustees will be installed during the 2023 ACCP Annual Meeting for 3-year terms. Other candidates for office in the 2023 elections were Sandra Benavides, Scott Bolesta, Philip E. Empey, Krystal K. Haase, and Brian K. Irons.

Members of the 2022 Nominations Committee who recommended the 2023 slate of candidates to the Board of Regents were Joanna Hudson (chair), Miranda Andrus (vice chair), Larisa Cavallari (secretary), M. Lynn Crismon, Jill Kolesar, Eric MacLaughlin, and Kimberly Thrasher.
