New Academy Certificate Program for Clinical Practice Advancement

ACCP Academy

The ACCP Academy unveils this month its fourth programmatic track, the Clinical Practice Advancement Certificate Program.

Consistent with the College’s mission to advance human health and quality of life by helping pharmacists expand the frontiers of their practice, the purpose of the ACCP Clinical Practice Advancement Certificate Program is to assist clinical pharmacists in enhancing their clinical roles, mentoring abilities, professional involvement, and recognition as experts in the field.

The ACCP Academy Clinical Practice Advancement Certificate Program is an educational program that focuses on the personal development of the clinical pharmacist; it is not intended to improve proficiency in a particular therapeutic area. Through a series of live modules offered at ACCP annual and spring meetings, this program will help participants establish credible interprofessional and patient-centered roles, extend their clinical practices through mentoring and precepting, and employ practical strategies to enhance professional standing and recognition. Elective offerings will allow participants to individualize their Academy experience and explore many related goals including leadership development, consulting, precepting students and trainees, and developing a business-practice plan.

The program will debut at the 2009 Annual Meeting with the Clinical Practice Primer. New clinical practitioners with residency training (or equivalent experience) who practice in any professional setting are encouraged to participate in this program as part of their own professional development. It is anticipated that most participants will be involved in, or planning to pursue, the precepting of students or residents. Individuals who complete the program requirements will receive official recognition as ACCP Academy graduates.
