ACCP Welcomes Newest Chapter: District of Columbia College of Clinical Pharmacy

Last month, the ACCP Board of Regents approved the application of the District of Columbia College of Clinical Pharmacy (DC-CCP) as the organization’s newest chapter. The chapter will serve the geographic region that includes the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. The addition of DC-CCP brings the number of active ACCP chapters to 18, including three international chapters.

More than 70 clinical pharmacists from the region signed up to be charter members of the new chapter. The chapter’s founding officers are Richard H. Parrish, B.S.Pharm., Ph.D., President, and Jason A. Corcoran, Pharm.D., Secretary-Treasurer.

“DC-CCP fills a long-standing need for the College to have an active chapter in the Washington Capital Region,” Parrish said.

For me, its founding honors the progress of clinical pharmacy and all ACCP founders, especially my personal mentors, Donald C. McLeod and the late Darwin Zaske. The educational and research programming offered by DC-CCP addresses pharmacy board certification activities, collaboration within the PBRN for translational and outcomes research, and provision of assistance to the Washington office as a forum for enhanced awareness of legislation that affects pharmacist-provided patient care.
